a satisfactory and interesting method which leaves out a lot of the hot air and dull stretches. WBAL-TV began by televising several hours from Washington in the morning and afternoon, thereby disrupting Its regular schedule to the dissatisfaction of some viewers. NBC-TV stopped the live telecasts, on the ground that the expense ($125,000 up to then) was too great in view of the rated audience. A film summary was made available to the network's stations. WBAL-TV, however, was "snowed under" by a flood of mall and telephone protests from persons who wanted to keep on watching the senatorial show.

Arrangements were made to pick it up yesterday morning from ABC-TV, but that network changed its mind and withdrew permission, so that WBAL-TV was unable to cover the hearings for yesterday afternoon. Because of prior commitments, the Baltimore station was unable to use NBC-TV's late summary. That's how it stood last night, but the situation is fluid, and other changes in the programming may be made today. The contest between the Orioles and the Athletics in Philadelphia this Saturday afternoon will be carried by the ABC-TV network as the "Baseball Game of the Week," starting at 1.43 P.M. Sportscasters for this event will he Dizzy Dean and Buddy Blatt-, ner.
