(nee Zerrlaat) and sister of Catherine Brady, devoted father of Carolyn Cascio and grandfather of Cheryl utter, Bonnie Weber. William Cordrey and It's Stielper Challenging The Team By Mike Farabaugh Stall Corrttpcndtnl College Park The Man against The Team. Pardon the oversimplification of this afternoon's class State basketball championship, but even Andover coach Dick Hart and Aberdeen coach Terry Colaw didn't disagree with the basic concept last night. Hart, whose Archer team downed Walter Johnson, 66-52, in Thursday's semifinal as The Man, Steve Stielper, poured in 41 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, watched last night as Colaw well-balanced team outhustled Largo High, 80-65. "Aberdeen outplayed us twice this season and we're very happy to get another chance to meet them," said Hart.

"We'll have to play extremely well to beat them. We just can't afford to let them get into a hot spurt where they can be devastating." That's precisely what Largo didn't do against Aberdeen last night and the Eagles ran away to a 55-48 advantage after trailing 38-30. at half time In last night's other semifinals, Bethesda-Chevy Chase downed Annapolis High, 57-51, to reach today's 8 P.M. class AA championship against Parkdale, Thursday's 69-59 winner over Dulaney; Southern, of Garrett county, defeated North Caroline, 58-52, to reach today's 1 P.M. class finale against Gwynn Park, Thursday's 84-64 winner over Edgewood; and Pocomoke, of Worcester county, nipped Bruce, of Western-port, 71-69, to gain today's 6 P.M.

class title contest against Colonel Richardson, Thursday's 60-55 winner over Walkersville. "I thought we had the good shots, but just didn't put them in the basket," said Colaw, explaining his team's sloppy first half. "We adjusted our pressing defense at halftime and forced Largo into some crucial mistakes. But the biggest difference was that we finally began making the shots." Eagle forward David Prince figured the fibreglass backboards caused the first-half problems. "We've played on glass boards at the (Aberdeen Proving Ground) Post before, but it still took us a while to get accustomed to the ball coming hard off the boards," said Prince, who fired in 31 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in an uncommon individual starring role for The Team.

Despite starting no one taller than 6 feet 2, the Eagles have won 24 of 26 games with a balanced attack. Prince, a 6-0 senior, and Tyrone Shoulders, a 6-2 junior, have topped the offense with 14-point averages, while Tom Fields (11.7), Frankie Williams (10.4) and Garry (Mini Might) Tildon (9.4) have kept pace. Williams received a broken hand three weeks ago, however, bringing forward Mike Crumble the bench to team with Tildon, a 5-5 jitterbugging playmaker, in the back court. Aberdeen didn't truly scrap its balanced attack last night, despite Prince's best offensive effort ever. Shoulders chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds, Fields added 14 and 6 and Tildon scored 11 and handed off 5 assists as the Eagles hit 20 of 38 second-half field goals enroute to their victory.

That Stielper fired in 19 of 24 shots from the floor in An-dover's win Thursday only illustrated how well The Team had to play today to counteract The Man. TOURNEY TIDBITS Annapolis gunned its way to a 31-18 first-half deficit with poor shooting and ball-handling. The Panthers' Jeff Brooks cut B-CC's lead to 47-45 with 3.12 remaining. But Brooks, who ended with only eight points, fouled out with 1.25 left and BCC wrapped up its 20th victory against 6 losses with four clutch free throws in the waning seconds. Solomon topped Annapolis with 18 points but managed only five rebounds.

was paced by John MacDonald's 16 points, while Theron Young added 14 points and 13 rebounds and Gary Zinkgraf came off the bench to guard Solonon and grab 11 bounds. Jeff Hetrick paced Largo in defeat, hitting of 27 field goals and 7 of 9 free throws for 31 points. Kevin Liller exploded for 26 points in the second half to pace Southern of Garrett's win. Pocomoke Gary Holden electrified the crowd of approximately 5,000, swishing a 22-foot jumper with two seconds remaining to bring victory for the Warriors ka. John J.
